The Ordinary skincare brand launched in 2016. It took the skincare market by storm with its high performance skincare products at affordable prices.
Over the years I tried various brands’ skincare products. I have always had acne and finding the right products has been an ongoing mission.
So, I decided to give The Ordinary’s The Balance Set skincare products a try.
WHAT IS THE ORDINARY’S THE BALANCE SET?
It is an all-round set of the brand’s best skincare products put together, required for a daily skincare routine. There are four products which are aimed at restoring balance to skin’s complexion and are good for blemish-prone skin. Each Squalane Cleanser and Salicylic Acid 2% Masque come in 50ml bottles. Whereis Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% and Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA come in 30ml bottles each.
Squalane Cleanser
This is a gentle moisturising facial cleanser, which also removes makeup. After use, the skin in fact does feel smooth and moisturised, which the brand claims this product should do. The formula is oil-like consistency, but after the cleanser is rinsed off the skin does not feel oily at all. This product is non-comedogenic, soap-free and The Ordinary indicates that it is suitable for all skin types. I definitely agree that it does not over-dry the skin and my skin feels very moisturised after use.
Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%
The Ordinary claims that this product is intended to reduce the appearance of blemishes and to balance visible aspects of sebum activity. However, the brand does confirm that this product is not intended to substitute any treatment for acne. I normally apply it after the cleanser, in small quantity. My skin does feel refreshed afterwards, but I do agree with the brand’s statement that it does not treat acne.
Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA
The Ordinary indicates that this facial moisturiser is aimed at keeping the skin protected and well-hydrated. My skin feels very hydrated after applying this product. I also completely agree with The Ordinary’s claim that this formula is non-greasy. A small amount is enough to use all over the face. It is so lightweight, and my skin does not feel clogged or oily after application.
Salicylic Acid 2% Masque
This masque is formulated to target textural irregularities and enhance the appearance of smoothness. It aims to remove dead skin cells on the surface of the face to reveal more radiant skin beneath. The Ordinary indicates that it is good for skin susceptible to blemishes. I use it once a week and my skin does feel refreshed and smooth afterwards. However, it does not substitute acne treatment and is only intended to be used as part of a skincare routine.
WILL I BUY THE BALANCE SET AGAIN?
The short answer is, yes! So far, I have not found any products which are better than these ones. I found that they interact very well with my acne. They are very lightweight, not greasy and very hydrating. Also, they are super affordable, vegan and cruelty free!
